Pedernales Fire Department ISO Rating

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE

Effective November 01, 2016 the Public Protection Classifications (PPC) for Travis County Emergency Services District Number 8 (TCESD8) will change. The Public Protection Classification is the system used by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) to reflect a community’s local fire protection for property insurance rating purposes.

How does the PPC system affect you?

Every city, town or area that provides fire protection services is subject to being graded to establish a PPC rating between 1 and 10. The lower the rating, then the better your protection classification. Individual buildings, including your house, are subject to the community’s PPC. The PPC has a direct bearing on the cost of insurance for each building in the area. When calculating property insurance premiums, insurance companies apply a factor that reflects a particular community’s PPC.

Effective November 01, 2016 the following classifications apply:

If your property is situated in the Village of Briarcliff, your rating is a Class 3.

If your property is situated in the jurisdiction of TCESD8 and have a fire hydrant within 1000’ of your home or structure and are within five (5) road miles of a fire station, your rating is a Class 4.

If your property is situated in the jurisdiction of TCESD8 and do not have a fire hydrant within 1000’ of your home or structure, but are within five (5) road miles of a fire station, your rating is a Class 5.

If your property is situated in the jurisdiction of TCESD8 and do not have a fire hydrant within 1000’ of your home or structure, and are not within five (5) road miles of a fire station, your rating is a Class 10.
